The best known are alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and the fatty acids from fish, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).
ALA is from vegetable oils and a little in meat and leafy green vegetables. EPA and DHA are found mainly in fish, crustaceans and shellfish.
Our gummies contain DHA from algae oil, as many people's bodies cannot produce DHA efficiently. Therefore, we have consciously chosen to only include this omega-3 fatty acid instead of ALA or EPA. ALA is already converted to EPA and DHA in your body. However, it takes a lot of ALA to produce just a little bit of DHA.
We also produce EPA ourselves from DHA and ALA. For healthy vegans, vegetarians and flexitarians, it may not be necessary to take additional EPA, because with a healthy lifestyle you get enough Omega-3 ALA (which is converted to EPA).
However, if your body really needs it, DHA can also be partially converted to EPA. Therefore, our DHA gummies are a good addition to your fatty acid level, whatever your diet.
